Columbine Community Newsletter

2. 21. 26

Hello Columbine families,

Our Columbine community is continuing to engage in Black History Month through this year’s theme, “A Century of Black History.” Each of our crews is exploring different decades and learning about impactful people, movements, events, and contributions of Black excellence. Students are diving into powerful stories of leadership, creativity, resilience, and change — and we’re excited to see this learning come to life through door decorations across our school in the coming weeks. We can’t wait for families to walk our halls and experience this celebration of learning alongside us.

Reminder there is no school for students this Friday, February 27th.

📅 Spring Conferences – March 5

A reminder to please sign up for conferences on March 5 if you haven’t already. These conversations are an important opportunity to connect around your child’s growth and learning, we look forward to seeing you!

❄️ Thank You, Families!

A big thank you to all the families who joined us for Clyde’s Frosty Fiesta — we are so grateful for your presence and partnership in making our community events so special.

⏰ After-School Reminder

Please remember that all students who remain on campus after dismissal must be supervised by their adult. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe and supported.

📰OLD NEWS! 📰

NEW Bell Schedule for the 26-27 School Year

We want to share an important update about our school day schedule for next year. Beginning in the 2026–27 school year, Columbine will move to a consistent bell schedule of 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., five days a week.

Currently, we operate with an early-release schedule on Thursdays. After gathering extensive input from staff and members of our school community, we have made the decision to discontinue the early-release day and transition to a five-day-a-week, 8–3 schedule. This change will allow for greater consistency for students and families across the week and better alignment with our instructional priorities.

Transportation note: Bus schedules will be adjusted to align with the new start and end times. More details will be shared as we get closer to the start of the school year.

Thank you for your feedback, partnership, and flexibility as we continue to make decisions in service of our students and families.

You can view the 2025–2026 DPS District Calendar [linked here]. 🗓️

In addition to district-wide non-student contact days, Columbine students will also not attend school on:

  • March 5th – Columbine-specific family conference day

Discovery Link will provide full-day care options for ECE–5th grade on both days.

ECE-only additional closure dates:

  • April 17th

  • April 24th

Discovery Link will provide full-day care for ECE students on these days if there are enough students signed up!
