Hello Columbine Community,
The outpouring of love and gratitude towards our crew has been reverberating through the building all week. We are so grateful to this community for rallying around our students and staff in the many ways that you did. This has definitely been a tough week for our staff. We are all still feeling the impact of last week. However, the love from the kiddos and community have made a big impact. Thank you all for the community gathering last Friday and for all that you continue to do.
In response to requests from many community members and myself, there will be an After-Action Community Meeting with members of our Climate and Safety Team, our Family and Community Engagement Team, and our Operational Service Directors. This will be an opportunity for questions, input, feedback, and clarity. Please put a tentative (awaiting final confirmation) HOLD for Monday, March 11th at 5:00pm in the Columbine auditorium.
MARCH brings us to AMBITION and Women’s History Month or, as we will refer to it, Women’s Herstory Month. During March we will use our Crew time intentionally to continue introducing lesser known, but equally as important, female figures and celebrating the ambition they used to accomplish greatness for themselves and inspire others. Our whole-School crew circle to kick off Ambition and Women’s Herstory Month will take place on Friday, March 8th! With a quick turnaround, our SOTM assembly will be on March 22nd before we all head off for Spring Break!
Black History Month Whole-School Celebration!
We’ve had an incredible month celebrating Black History Month. We are so excited to welcome in the whole community to see the celebration of our learning on our doors and in our hallways. On March 15th, we will have a popcorn Friday inside the front lobby. Please come back into the building at 3:30 after you pick up your children and come see the incredible art, display, recognition, and celebration of Black History and Black Excellence. You will have another opportunity to come see the hallways and door displays later that evening at 5:30 during our indoor Movie Night!

Attendance
One of our big focuses this year is on improving our overall attendance and decreasing our percentage of students who are chronically absent. Every minute matters when it comes to attendance! Our school target for the year is 91% for attendance. Last month our attendance rate was 90.14%. Let’s work together to make sure when our students are healthy we are getting them to school on time everyday!
Recess and Lunch Volunteers Needed!
THANK YOU to all of the families who have been supporting us during lunch and recess duty. Extra hands make a big difference. The sign up has been updated for the remainder of the school year!. Here is the sign-up genius. You do not need to be here for the whole slot, you can come for part or the whole time. You will need to have your background check completed which is a fast and easy process. Please sign up and reach out with questions!
Save the Date for our Student-Led Conferences!
We are SO excited to host student-led conferences this year! Your children are already hard at work preparing to share their genius and their learning journeys this year. Our Student-Led Conferences will be an open-house style on March 20th, so you do not need to sign up for a time slot. You can arrive any time between 3:45-5:30!
CMAS
3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families, please see this parent letter for information on our upcoming CMAS Assessment. CMAS testing will begin after spring break. Information on opting out is included in this letter.

Hemos tenido un mes increíble celebrando el Mes de la Historia Afroamericana. Asistencia
Uno de nuestros grandes enfoques este año es mejorar nuestraasistencia general y disminuir nuestro porcentaje de estudiantes quecrónicamente ausente. ¡Cada minuto importa cuando se trata de asistencia! Nuestro objetivo escolar para el año es 91% de asistencia. El mes pasado nuestra tasa de asistencia fue del 90,14%. ¡Trabajemos juntos para asegurarnos de que cuando nuestros estudiantes estén sanos, los llevemos a la escuela a tiempo todos los días!

¡Estamos MUY emocionados de organizar conferencias dirigidas por estudiantes este año! Nuestras conferencias dirigidas por estudiantes serán unaestilo de casa abierta el 20 de marzo, por lo que no es necesario inscribirse en una franja horaria. ¡Puedes llegar en cualquier momento entre las 3:45 y las 5:30!
