Hello Columbine Community!
Our incredible crew of Black Excellence Focus Group Families generated some ideas for how we can make Black History come to life in our classrooms and throughout our school. They were inspired by teachers around the country who have engaged in door decorating projects with their students to highlight a person, event, idea, or movement. We are excited to see how each crew learns about and celebrates the historic and ongoing excellence, influence, and impacts of Black history and Black culture through a door decorating celebration here at Columbine. This learning lives authentically in our walls, our neighborhood, and our students as we are located in one of the most historically Black neighborhoods in Denver.
Baby Jenks Coming Soon!
In case anyone has not seen me recently, I want to make sure everyone is aware that I am expecting the arrival of a baby boy on March 15th. I can’t quite believe we are just five weeks away from that due date! I will be out from March 8th to May 17th (give or take depending on what this baby decides to do). While I am away there will be an interim principal placed at Columbine to support the leadership team, staff, students, and community. That person will introduce themselves upon joining the crew here and I have all confidence in the amazing work continuing while I am away.
