Community Update 2/3/23

Posted February 6, 2023

Hello Columbine Community!

We had a great week here at Columbine kicking off Black History Month. We have already had several of our Black families volunteer and come in to read and talk to our crews and we would love to have more. If you or someone you know is interested in joining us please use this link!

As February is Black History Month, we will explore Black History through a series of readings, storytelling, experiences, and even performances. We encourage you to talk with your Columbine Cougar about Black History and Black Excellence. Check out our Black History resources here

Columbine Crew Professional Learning

This week, our staff engaged in Professional Development with the following outcome: I will begin to examine my personal narrative around my cultural awareness and notice its impact on and implications for my work as an educator. I invite you all to consider this quote and join our crew in this essential learning around culture, identity, and self awareness.

Knowing who we are, where we hold agency, how our identities came to be, and how they determine our roles in society helps us to understand ourselves and how we can change a system where some folx are under-resourced and oppressed, to one where we are all liberated.
