Happy Friday Columbine Community,
The cold weather is upon us and so is cold and flu season! We have seen an increase in students being absent for illnesses and coming in with lingering coughs and colds. This is your friendly reminder to ensure your students have their flu shots and that you are monitoring your children for symptoms and keeping them home when they are sick.
Winter Is Coming
Although the weather is getting colder we will always prioritize going outside for recess when we are able. We also try to give an indoor/outdoor option for students when resources allow us to. Please be sure students are coming to school with coats/hats/gloves etc. and when the snow begins – boots are always a great gear addition!
Cocoa and Coats Event
Speaking of coats… on November 18th after school the PTA will host a Cocoa and Coats event. This is a coat donation opportunity and all families are welcome to come and donate or take coats as they are needed for the winter season.
Columbine Community – Declining Enrollment
This week, over the course of two meetings, we had over one hundred community members join us to engage in the discussion around the
Declining enrollment recommendation. This is the sign of a healthy, engaged, and activated community and I’m incredibly proud of how this community showed up, asked questions, and lifted their voices. As a reminder, the public comment session with the board is on Monday, November 14th and the board vote will take place on November 17th. 🍂Thanksgiving Lunch🍂
Lastly, our Columbine Community Thanksgiving Meal will take place on November 16th from 11:00-1:00. We will send out a schedule of when each grade level has their lunch block and families are welcome to join them. Tickets for the Thanksgiving Lunch can be purchased in the office in advance or the day of the event. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for any non-Columbine students.
