More Information
Columbine is located in northeast Denver a few blocks north of beautiful City Park. Columbine values cultural and ethnic diversity and is fortunate to be in a neighborhood that reflects the distinctive diversity of American society. Columbine is proud of its dedicated and compassionate teachers. Our teachers use the DPS Literacy Program, which consists of reading, writing and skill blocks. Our teachers have also been trained in the Everyday Math program. Columbine has a Humanities Facilitator, who conducts professional staff development in reading and writing. Our Character Education program allows us to meet the needs of the "whole child" by integrating positive character traits in our students' daily lives. Through our reading, writing, and math programs and school-wide strategies of teaming and intentional instruction, we were able to increase our Spring 2005 CSAP scores. With the implementation of the District-wide Literacy Initiative, Content Teaching and by providing our students with longer blocks of instructional time, our CSAP scores will continue to increase. Columbine is honored to be a recipient of the CREA tutorial grant. Thanks to these grant monies, we are able to provide our students with before and after school tutoring, one-on-one tutoring, family literacy nights, and parent empowerment groups. Our staff is positive, dedicated and confident that our school will meet the ever-changing needs of its student population.
