I am originally from Mexico, and I have lived in the United States for about twenty nine years. I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a Bachelors of Arts in Education, and I earned a Master’s Degree in Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Education in 2011. I completed a graduate certification program for Guided Reading Plus offered by DPS. I am very excited because this will be my ninth year teaching at Columbine. I have previous experience working at Adventure Elementary in Mapleton District, Valdez Elementary and Fairmont Elementary in Denver Public Schools as a paraprofessional and student teacher.
I love working with young students, and I truly enjoy promoting the appreciation of different cultures through our Diversity club, and getting involved with our community through our partner community group Together Colorado in the Education Committee and the PTA. I am a mother of three girls, so outside of the school setting I enjoy spending time with my family and practicing zumba.
