Columbine Peaks Award Winner  November 2016: Stephanie Wisely

The Columbine Peaks Award honors individuals on the Columbine Team who demonstrate a pursuit of excellence in their practice, actions, conversations and overall spirit.

The Columbine Team stands strong together and today the sun shines specifically on the work of Stephanie Wisely.  Stephanie works with relentless determination to have students meet or exceed the rigorous expectations of Common Core Standards. In the most recent interim assessment, collectively Ms. Wisely’s 5th grade minority subgroup scored 54 percentage points higher than the average of  students in the State of Colorado participating in the same assessment. Furthermore, 82% of her individual students scored above the average score for all students. Bravo!

Ms. Wisely excels by clearly connecting rigorous tasks to objectives and always requires all students to explain and evaluate mathematic reasoning for themselves and others. She utilizes technology to make her lessons more engaging and cultivates a safe, risk taking classroom where children shed insecurities and begin dreaming about the future career opportunities before them.

We are honored today to be lucky enough to work beside such a excellent practioner as we work to empower all of Columbine’s students.

Stephanie, may a million rays of sunshine keep your bucket full,
